     We are excited about the possibilities before us this school year because we can accomplish anything if we put forth our best effort. Our students are very important to us. As an instructional leader with 12 years of educational experience, my number one goal is increasing student achievement. Realizing no single curriculum, teaching methodology, or resource is the answer to student success, but rather, addressing several key areas is what leads to student growth. We, as a faculty are motivated to do what must be done to ensure that all students learn.

 

     To accomplish this, we will provide a culture of high expectation along with instruction that is rigorous and differentiated to meet the needs of each individual student. Teachers are commited to providing high quality instruction along with proven strategies that will increase student achievement. in the areas of reading, writing, math and science.  Curriculum will emphasize math, science, technology, and pre-engineering concepts that will enhance critical thinking skills and increase student motivation. 

     Our magnet program excites students’ natural curiosities and encourages them to learn. Students have many opportunities to learn through hands on instruction and experiences in a variety of settings. We offer technology enriched classrooms, a fully equipped Computer Lab and a state of the art Pre-Engineering Lab.  Additional learning opportunities are also provided through our Family Involvement Center, after school Communities in Schools Team Up Program, SES Tutoring, FCAT Passport to Success Program, and theme related field trips.

     We look forward to this being the best year at Sallye B. Mathis Elementary School.
